A 78 year old woman of Murundu compound in Mufulira district has been arrested for allegedly murdering her 78 year old husband with a stick, during a marital dispute.
Copperbelt Province Police Commissioner Sharon Zulu told ZANIS news that a report was received by Julius Chifita that the deceased John Mumba was beaten by his wife Sena Chifula during a marital dispute on Monday August 1, 2022 around 20:00 hours.
She said that after a domestic quarrel the deceased was then taken to Murundu clinic where he later died the following day around 12:00 hours.
Ms. Zulu said the clinic confirmed that the victim had head injuries caused by a stick believed to have been used to inflict the injuries.
“The wife of the deceased has been arrested and the body of the deceased deposited to Ronald Ross hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem,” she said.
She announced that further investigations have been instituted in the matter.
