Woman who advised her daughter to kill her baby with knife

Following a protest by the harmed women of Olocha-Adogba community in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State over an alleged conspiracy and the murder of a newborn baby with a knife on November 7, 2022 by the grandmother, Christiana Okonkwo, 60, and the teenage mother, Ada-Joy Okonkwo, 18, police yesterday appealed for calm, assuring of a thorough investigation and prosecution of the suspects in a timely manner A Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Ammani, has reportedly ordered a thorough investigation and prosecution of the suspects while urging community members to remain calm and supportive, according to the image maker of the Enugu State Police command, Mr. Daniel Ndukwe.

DSP Ndukwe stated in a press release dated November 11, 2022 that “CP Ahmed Ammani has ordered the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (SCIID) Enugu to thoroughly investigate the case of an alleged conspiracy and infanticide by the child’s mother, Ada Joy Okonkwo, age 18, and her mother, Christiana Okonkwo, age approximately 60, at Olocha-Adogba in the Awgu community of the Awgu LGA.

Initial research, he claimed, “indicates that the alleged mother of the newborn child, following the counseling of her mother, used a kitchen knife to stab the child to death, seconds after she was delivered of the baby at home.
