ERLING HALLAND MAKES IT 15 GOALS IN 9 APPEARANCE AS MANCHESTER CITY OUTCLASSED SOUTHAMPTON AT ETHIAD STADIUM

 

At the Etihad Stadium on Saturday in the Premier League, Manchester City defeated Southampton 4-0 thanks to goals from Erling Haaland, Joao Cancelo, Phil Foden, and Riyad Mahrez. As a result, City now leads the league with 23 points after nine games with a record of seven victories and two draws. Arsenal, who have played one fewer game than Liverpool, are in second place with 21 points.

On Saturday afternoon, Manchester City thrashed struggling Southampton 4-0 with Erling Haaland scoring the winning goal.

After 20 minutes, Joao Cancelo scored with a drilled shot across goal. Then, Phil Foden skillfully lifted the ball over Gavin Bazunu to double Man City’s advantage.

Riyad Mahrez pounced on a beautiful Rodri dinked cross four minutes into the second half to increase the home team’s lead to three.

After missing numerous significant opportunities throughout the game, Haaland had to finally have his say. He finished a low-driven Cancelo cross with force to end any doubt about the outcome.

The rest of the second half was dominated by City, and as the game came to an end, Southampton found it difficult to move out of their own half.

With the victory, City moves to the top of the standings, while Southampton is one point clear of the relegation zone after suffering their fourth straight loss.
