The Lagos State University (LASU) has been ranked as the best state University in Nigeria, according to AD Scientific ranking for 2022.
The institution, according to the ranking, is also positioned as the fifth best university across the country.
AD Scientific Index, a notable ranking system of World Universities, based on the cumulative AD Scientific Indices of scholars, which each university has to parade, in its2022 ranking, rated no fewer than 50 Nigerian Universities with which LASU emerged fifth.
The management of the institution made this known in a statement on it official Facebook page, adding that the development was possible due to the efforts by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, led Management in ensuring that the institution becomes the best in West Africa.
Reacting to the development, Director, Research Management and Innovation, LASU, Prof. Adejuwon Adeneye, noted that the development was a good news for the University.
In his words: “We are getting better, while we are working assiduously to be the very best, with accelerated efforts by the current university administration to get all academic staff profile online to showcase to the entire world.”
Unilag Ranking
University of Lagos was set up in 1962. Fondly known as Unilag – the University of First Choice – the college presently serves above 40,000 college students from 131 in inception.

2 ASUU STRIKE
Before then, What Is This ASUU?
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) was founded in 1978.
ASUU and the Federal Government of Nigeria are always in conflict over funding of the Nigerian Universities, better working conditions among others.
And each time the two parties call for a meeting to settle their disagreements, it usually ended with the government promising the union that the demands would be met soon.
Why Is ASUU Always On Strike?
The government’s refusal to meet the union’s demands since 1999 has however been the basic reason ASUU goes on strike almost every year.

LASU FEES
LASU has two streams which are stream 1 and Stream 2. Be informed that even when you chose stream one during your admission screening LASU may still admit you on stream two and vice versa. LASU reserves the right to do so.
The stream one is for both Indigenes and non indigenes
Stream one pays 58k tuition fee
Stream two pays 150k tuition fee. Now let’s talk about Unilag.
