UCL: NAPOLI DEFEATS AJAX by A SCORE of 6-1 TO RETAIN FIRST PLACE IN GROUP A THANKS TO GIACOMO RASPADORI’S BRACE
Tuesday’s 6-1 thumping of Ajax by Napoli, led by Giacomo Raspadori’s brace, continued the team’s unblemished and successful start in Group A.
Ajax was never given a chance to build up from the back due to Napoli’s relentless high pressing forwards and midfielders, who also repeatedly caused defenders to turn the ball over, giving the dominant Serie A leading opportunity after opportunity.
Ajax had only ever given up at least five goals in a European game twice. The last time was in 1980, when Bayern Munich defeated them 5-1.
In its first three Group A games of the Champions League, Napoli has now scored 13 goals.
